AboutLight Up Blue Ridge!

Saturday, November 27, 2010

Light Up Blue Ridge is an annual old-fashioned holiday celebration in downtown Blue Ridge!

The downtown is filled with live entertainment throughout the day. Santa and Mrs. Claus arrive on the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway at 12:00 p.m. Visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus and have free photos taken in the gazebo in downtown Blue Ridge. Live reindeer, childrens trackless train rides, a live nativity (from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.) and much more. The lighting of the "Great Tree" takes place at dusk. Downtown shops will be open late so bring the whole family for a holiday of fun, perfect to start the season off right.

Proceeds from this event will benefit "Snack in a Backpack".  For more information, please contact Gaye Whalton at snackinabackpack@gmail.com

AboutENTERTAINMENT

Various entertainers will perform throughout the day, beginning at 11:00 a.m. with Tuba Christmas.

Country singer, Bartlee Norton, will be back at Light Up for his second year in a row to entertain us (with his band) from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. and again from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. (just before the lighting of The Great Tree").

Maxwell Taylor will perform from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. and then again from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.  Maxwell's one man show will take you back in time, reliving the greatest musical nostalgia anyone could ever imagine.
